INSPIRE, EDUCATE, ENCOURAGE & support

Every year, I offer a number of In-Person Training Days and Workshops in The Netherlands and in the UK.

I love teaching, sharing my knowledge with others and seeing their development over the course of a day or a few sessions. Although it is over ten years since I took my first ever photographic training course, that course is still fresh in my mind, and I look back with fond memories of my enthusiastic and well-informed tutor and aspire to offer that experience to others.

My training days are kept to small groups of no more than six. They are held at locations which elevate learning of specific techniques to ensure the best learning experience possible.

As a guide of possible locations:

In The Netherlands:

  • Sonsbeek Park in Arnhem offers waterfalls, woodlands and flower gardens.
  • The Posbank and park Hoge Veluwe offers trees, paths and nature.
  • Appeltern Gardens offers a wealth of textures in nature together with architectural garden elements.**
  • Keukenhof offers every imaginable colour, texture and shape of flowers.**
  • Other locations are available.

** (For the Appeltern and Keukenhof locations, an entry cost is also required)

In the United Kingdom:

Workshops can be organised in any location, depending on demand.  Previous workshops have been held in Suffolk, Gloucestershire, Nottinghamshire, and various locations in Scotland.

tulip tours

____

LOCATION:  Amsterdam, Netherlands

Duration – 1 day (Start and end time variable according to your request.  Nine hours from pick up to drop off ).

PRICE –  €600 euros total (one flat rate for your group of 1-3 people – non-photographers are welcome)

Booking this option is a Private Tour; you share only with people you book with.

Deposit: €150 is required to book from the available dates.

Pick up from a location outside the central Amsterdam area at an agreed meeting point. Pick up from a central city hotel location is possible, but there is an extra cost of €75 euros for this.

A Private Tour is a perfect option if you are staying in Amsterdam and would like a personal guided tour out to see the tulips in Holland. The day can be completely tailored to your personal requests. Sunrise or sunset out in the tulip fields is possible (but weather-dependent).

I have been visiting the tulip fields for over ten years, and I know the best locations to get you close to the tulips without the crowds. You can dedicate your whole day to tulips, or maybe you would like to include a rural village for lunch and explore the tiny canals, cobbled streets, architecture and reflections. There are a number of windmills that are a wonderful addition to the tour as well. We can easily manage tulips, windmills and a small village into your day. Alternatively, we can combine a visit to the traditional cheese market of Alkmaar with the tulip fields on Fridays.

As your Guide for the day, I am happy to show you the ‘off the beaten track’ locations that I love. But I will be guided by you as to how long you like to linger at any one location. Being in a small car, stopping for photographic opportunities is easier than when you are with a big group. If you are a pro looking for a guide to unique locations, I can offer you this. However, if you would like me to help or teach you any technical aspects of Landscape or Creative Photography, I am also more than happy to do this.

Dates Available:  [Check the Calendar]

Deposit:  To secure your place, a payment of €150 Euros is required.

A Full Day Exploring the ICM Technique

LOCATION:  The Netherlands and UK

This day will explore the creative technique of ICM Photography.  Throughout the day, you will be guided through the techniques and encouraged to develop a way of seeing in such a way that will encourage creativity.  My aim is for you to not only be able to create an ICM image but also to understand how you can continue to work in this style once you leave the workshop.  This workshop is suitable for any level of ICM experience.

There will be guided exercises to challenge and encourage exploration of the technique if you would like to develop your learning. But if you prefer just to enjoy the location with my support when you need it, that is also possible.

Group sizes are kept to a maximum of six to ensure lots of 1:1 time with each participant. If you are a complete beginner, I suggest you watch a couple of my YouTube videos so that you have the basics of understanding before the workshop.

Cost:  Euros €175 per person.

Requirements:  Camera with adjustable shutter speed and ISO with the option to work in manual mode. ND (neutral density) filters are also useful if you have them.  A tripod is optional.  Clothing suitable to the weather.

Workshops go ahead unless the rain is so hard it makes photography impossible.

NB:  Some locations include walking to reach the area where we photograph.  Also, consider your fitness, mobility and how much equipment you plan to carry.

Exertion Level:  Rating *

* Easy/flat terrain – not too much walking.  ** Medium – may include inclines, or you may be on your feet for the full day moving around the location or walking a couple of km.  (If you have any concerns about this level, please let me know before booking.). ***  High – requires a reasonable fitness.  Walking will be required to reach the photographic destination, and we will be active for the duration of the workshop – not recommended for those with mobility issues.

Timing:  10:00 – 16:00

Not Included:  Lunch or drinks – I will let you know, depending on location, if there are cafe facilities or if it is necessary to bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks.
