Online Presentations & Virtual Talks
Is your camera club, group, or association looking for a passionate and enthusiastic speaker who loves what they talk about and has a real desire to share their knowledge and experience to help your members develop their photographic skills and knowledge? Look no further!
I believe deeply in teaching from experience and knowledge, so you are guaranteed an in-depth and personal presentation for your group by a knowledgeable individual who photographs and teaches as her profession.
All my presentations include masses of example images. I use small videos to illustrate the points I am presenting where possible. Having moved from in-person to online workshops during COVID-19, I now try to make my presentations as immersive and like being in a workshop as possible. I use lots of before and after photographs (what I saw vs what I created), which I have had great feedback on as being helpful and valuable.
My fee for around a 1.5-hours presentation (plus a comfort break and time for questions, a total of around 2 hours) via Zoom is £150. Pick from one of the talk options below.
If you have a group interested in a series of talks that will form an ongoing learning opportunity, I am more than happy to discuss this idea with you. I have worked with both the Camversation and My Photo Club webinar platforms to deliver short courses to their viewers and with local camera clubs, The Guild of Photographers and the RPS, to provide targeted training.
Please contact us to discuss the ideas you have for your club.
A lovely message I received following a recent camera club presentation
"Hi Charlie, another thank you for your talk last night, and for attracting a Club record audience for the last couple of Zoom seasons at least - maybe even further back!
Your talk went down really well, I have already had feedback saying that they enjoyed it and have a lot of ideas to explore. You have already been a catalyst for further imaginative ideas.
It was nicely paced and timed to perfection. I thought your style was spot-on with an appropriate degree of warmth and informality, and providing useful guidance across a range of things ... rather than "orders" on how to do stuff.
As I said in my summing up, I also thought that the inclusion of projects by others was very positive, both to show greater diversity of approaches and to show the strength that comes from it not being just about you."
Photography Judging
I have been a panel member and judge for The Guild of Photographers in the UK for the last four years. Judging their monthly competitions. I have also judged for several Camera Clubs Worldwide, including Cape Town Photographic Society and Brussels Viewfinders groups. I love the opportunity to provide feedback as well as awarding placings or awards. I am more than happy to discuss your requirements if you are interested.
Thank you so much for completing the judging for us in record time. It makes my job much easier! I'm sure that the photographers will appreciate the comments. I look forward to having you judge one of our monthly competitions for us in the New Year. We love the care that you take with each image, and your feedback is invaluable. Thank you once again for being so helpful. Cape Town Photographic Society
" Thanks, Charlotte, for your contribution to the challenge judging, both for your excellent comments on the photos and for all the work that you did in preparing the judging."

The Art of ICM
- intentional camera movement
This presentation introduces the technique of ICM. It’s great for those with a relatively low or non-existent knowledge of this subject.
I introduce what ICM is, and how and why I got started with it. We then move onto why you might like to give it a try and I provide a tool box of technical how to get started tips and exercises to enable you to go away and get started with. Including shutter speed, movements and other camera settings.
Loads of examples and inspirational images.

Inception to Publication
- my book creation journey
In this presentation, I will explore how my initial ideas for a project eventually resulted in the publication of her book.
If you have ever thought about working on a longer project, or even self-publishing, I will share the whole process step by step, from the initial conception of the idea, through how I created and curated the images to the final choices for the project.
Interestingly, this project embraces several different photographic techniques, but these are all pulled together by a strong concept. During the project, Charlotte worked with a mentor, editors, a designer and printer to realise the end result, and will explain how this team approach worked.
Lots of valuable information and plenty of beautiful images in this presentation.

Principals of Successful Photography
- whatever the genre
This is a presentation that discussed the fundamentals of all genres of photography, using loads of examples to show that light, composition, balance, choosing the right settings and understanding why you make your photos is the same regardless of photographic genre. I include a fun section where I attempt to dispel a few myths regarding photographic judging (from both the judges and photographers’ perspectives).
A valuable presentation for all.

ICM & Multiple Exposures
- understanding the why as well as the how
In this presentation I want to encourage viewers to understand the whys as well as the how’s. There are many possible reasons to create multiple exposure images using ICM images, which I will take you step by step through. With an idea of why you want to use ME in your work you will have a better awareness of how to do it.
The presentation includes step by step guide for blending images in Photoshop. It will also introduce ME phone apps and the possibility for using this practise in camera.
As all other presentations – lots of examples which illustrate my whole thought and execution process to reach the end image.

Cohesive Projects Creation
- an intro to how to get started with creating bodies of work that sit together
In this presentation I introduce the concept of cohesivity, before developing an awareness of the elements that create cohesivity in sets of images via the use of examples in my own work, but also that of others. We will look at why you may want to create this coordination, then move on to look at a number of ways you can put this into action in your own work.
The power of creating images that work together cannot be underestimated. We all start our photographic journey making images that stand alone, snapshots of individual elements. But have you ever wondered how you can get your images to tell a story or show a style that represents you?
A valuable presentation for anyone wanting to understand how to make images work together in portfolios, create photo books and presentations, apply for photographic qualifications or improve the presence and balance of web albums or social media posts.

Finding Photographic Inspiration
- on your doorstep
In this presentation I explore the positives and possibilities of photographing close to home where you get to know your location.
So many photographers believe they need to visit exotic locations to find inspiration or make images that bring a feeling of achievement. Not only does this cost, but often the pressure to capture the 'once in a lifetime' locations or opportunities bring pressure to the photographic experience if expectations are not realised.
After moving to the Netherlands 12 years ago, I find beauty on my doorstep every day, and find inspiration to create new projects and bodies of work on my doorstep. I'd love to share this concept and open the eyes of others to the opportunities and positives of doing this.
Lots of examples of how I have embraced this concept including a look at my Master craftsman qualification panel.
